There’s a big possibility that you are reading this article, “How To Start A Dollar Store” because you are most probably tired of your 9-to-5 day job and would like to finally unleash that entrepreneurial spirit in you.

After years of being employed and working for someone else, you have finally realized that success for you is having your very own business and in this particular case, your very own dollar store!

As a typical newbie in the industry, you just want to make sure you get everything right the first time. How do you open your own store you ask? Easy!

The answer to this question is similar to answering the question: How to start a business. Here are five ways to get you started!

1. Save Your Money…One Paycheck At A Time

Starting your own store is serious business. It will involve a big amount of money as capital to get things rolling. As a salaried worker, it might be wise to start saving your hard-earned money, one paycheck at a time.

2. Learn More About Successful Dollar Stores

Starting a dollar store is no longer a novel idea; it isn’t something that hasn’t been done before. In fact, there are numerous stores sprouting everywhere. So, your question at this point is not how to start your own but how to start a successful one.

Check out the dollar stores you see around. Shop and experience being in one. Talk to the employees and customers. Read about it in the Internet. You can find answers to all your questions if you did your homework.

3. Choose A Store Model Wisely

Not everything is created equal. There will always be better dollar stores. After learning all you need about this business opportunity, identify which store model you are going to be comfortable with. Remember that you’re going to be in this business model for a long time.

Check for a store model that has a well-trained staff, shows exemplary customer service, and has a good merchandising system or good relationship with its suppliers. These are some of the wise things that you should be considering.

4. Location, Location, Location

One of the crucial elements in setting up a business store is location. There are stores of this type that have closed shop not because it’s not carrying good products or has lousy customer service, it just happens to be located in a place where there is less traffic.

Staring a dollar store today is not just about having the money to invest and having a successful model to replicate. Where your store will be located in the community is just as important.

5. Get Professional Help

It is perfectly normal to have doubts or apprehensions or simple jitters the moment you decide to have your own business. But only if you are either doing it on your own or because you are dealing with the wrong kind of help.

Staring this type of business opportunity involves more than just your entrepreneurial spirit. Seek professional help from experts who have successfully installed dollar stores before. These experts can help you in finding the right location, securing financing assistance, and establishing a merchandise system. Your business could even be built for you and you could have your very own store open in seven days!

If you’ve ever wondered about how to start a dollar store, then wonder no more with these five easy steps! You could now have your own store that is custom-fit to your vision of your very own successful business.

Most people are fond of embarking on exciting adventures around the world, and the tourism sector is a booming business market because of the promotion of such traveling experiences. Each country has its own rich history and culture to share with the world, and tourists are eager to spend time in a foreign land, but many need the advice of travel experts. If you love traveling and would enjoy helping people plan ideal vacations, you might want to look into starting a new career in the travel industry.

Travel franchises are among the highest profit-generating franchises in the business sector and this remains true, even in today’s challenging economic times. People are willing to cut their household spending but they are not willing to cut their vacation times. The majority of travelers are attracted to the most luxurious vacation package their budget can afford, so if you run your travel agency the right way, there is ample opportunity for revenue.

Joining a Cruise Holidays franchise is the best way for people to take a first step into the travel industry with minimal risks involved, but choosing the best travel agency franchise requires some research. Search online for travel franchise opportunities. Look for a successful franchise that has been around for a long time, and one that has a readily recognized name. An experienced travel franchise company will provide you with seminars, training sessions, skills and tools that will help you confidently enter into the world of travel. A travel franchise business may be your key to success.

You might consider setting up your own travel franchise at home as it requires lower starting costs. Many people have become financially successful with a home travel business. Think of not having to drive in rush hour traffic, and not having to pay rent for a shop. All you’ll need is the Internet, phones, and the guidance of an experienced travel franchisor.

It’s much easier to join a travel franchise than to start your own travel agency from scratch. Joining a travel agency franchise keeps your start-up operating costs to a bare minimum. A successful parent franchisor’s readily recognized name brand, its years of experience, and its worldwide, outstanding reputation are all to your benefit.

If you have chosen to join an experienced and successful Cruise Holidays franchise, you will continue to be supported by the parent corporation’steam. A successful travel franchise will make sure you participate with their other agents in live chats on various travel related topics, and offer other meetings and activities that will make your new career exciting and successful. When you succeed, the parent company succeeds.

As I scan all of the news reports, and anything to do with franchising throughout the United States, I see some industry trends which are starting to emerge. I am noticing franchise attorneys talk about it, and I am observing franchise associations start to figure out how to best educate their members to take advantage of these future trends. Indeed, I am also watching the regulators carefully scrutinize several new game changing events. These are things that are happening right now, and they appear to not be short-term trends, but rather long-term changes in the industry.

Indeed, as a former franchisor, and also a franchising consultant, I would like to address four of these points, from my point of view. In other words, where I see all of this going from the perspective of a franchising company projecting out into the marketplace with hundreds or thousands of franchisees, and as a futurist type thinker, then you decide if you think my assessment is valid. Now then, here are the four points I’d like to address;

1. Social Networking
2. Smartphone Payments
3. New Health Insurance Rules
4. Challenges with Funding, Expansion

Back in the year 2000, social networks didn’t exist, and neither did blogs. There were no text messages, and the smart phones back then would be considered dumb phones right now. However, I do recall challenges on Internet forums, as franchisees would give away proprietary information accidentally, or when disgruntled customers of one franchisee would get online, and trash a brand name hurting all of the franchisees in the entire system.

That was the beginning of some of the challenges. Today, one mistake from a franchisee can go viral on the Internet, YouTube, or throughout the social networks in hours, not days, weeks, or months. Therefore many franchisors feel the need to have social networking crisis teams. Even back in the day, I can remember working to put out fires online, nothing like it is today, as we just got around to it whenever we felt like it, or whenever we thought it was getting out of hand.

Social networking is now used by franchisees to get customers into their local locations, and also by franchisors to strengthen their brand name, find new franchisees to recruit, and even to offer discounts and coupons to all their franchised outlets. This trend will definitely continue, along with GPS smartphone based coupons, alerting customers that are near locations that there are special discounts right around the corner if they are interested.

And speaking of smartphones, and location based coupons, and alerts for those on customer reward programs with specific apps; those same customers will be able to pay with their smartphones. Many large companies are already doing this, and this trend will continue, and you can bet every retail franchise outlet or service company will offer apps in the very near future.

Next, there are some economic and political issues which are affecting franchising. For instance ObamaCare, and the phase-ins coming forth in 2014 requiring all employers to provide health care insurance for all their employees. This is an increase in cost which will be a burden for all franchisees who own franchised outlets. It will cause a decrease in new hiring, and also a reduction in labor force. It’s also a huge cost, which will hurt the profitability of not only every franchised outlet, but every small business in America.

There may be some changes in that law, but we don’t know that yet, and it is causing a little bit of a problem in the industry as franchisors are scrambling for solutions, and even trying to get the Obama Administration to give them waivers. Some large franchising companies have already gotten waivers, and others have not. Those companies that cannot get waivers will be put at a competitive disadvantage. Many franchisors that could not get waivers are already starting to cry; crony capitalism.

Another issue that has to do with the overall economic situation in franchising are the future challenges with the availability of funding for new franchise outlets, expansion of current franchises, and issues for franchisees who have signed development agreements with their franchisors. Now then, if interest rates go up, there may be more banks willing to lend money because it is now worth their risk, but that money will also cost more for the business borrower. There are some banks lending money to small businesses, including franchisees now, but things are not where they need to be. This is an unfortunate trend which looks like it will continue. Meanwhile it will affect the growth rates of franchising companies and slow their franchises from expanding or opening new outlets.

Okay so, that was my discussion for today, on some of the trends that I see coming forth. Yes, there are several others, but these are definite trends which are happening right now, and show no signs of letting up. Therefore, I hope you will please consider all this and think on it. Now then, I hope you come up with the strategies you need to make sure that your franchising system or franchised outlet succeeds and thrives in the future regardless of what additional new trends come forth.

As always, if you have any comments, concerns, questions, case studies, solutions, or new innovations regarding any of the items I’ve discussed please shoot me an e-mail. I am open to talk to individual franchisees, franchisors, vendors to the industry, media, or franchising companies and future franchisors.

There are a number of different ways to invest in a franchise depending on your goals and objectives. You can buy a single location, or look at investing in multiple units. It all depends on what you are looking to accomplish. The good news is there are options, and what I would like to do is provide some insight on what’s available to those serious in investing in a franchise system.

There are five types of franchise ownership:

1. Single-Unit
2. Multiple-Unit
3. Area Development
4. Regional Development
5. Master Development

The most common is called single-unit. This is where you own and operate one franchise location. This is a good starting point for first time business owners. If you are successful, you can grow to the next category called multiple-unit.

Multiple-unit simply means owning two or more franchise businesses. It can be the same or different concepts in the same or different geographical locations. There are advantages to owning different franchises, as it can be a great way to diversify risk. There are also benefits in owning several units of the same franchise, as you only have to learn and operate one franchise system. In addition, a franchisor will typically offer discounts to their franchise fees if you open multiple units of their concept. If you’re thinking about owning more than one location, you may want to consider Area Development.

Area development is where a franchisee agrees to own and operate multiple units in the same geographic location. In this type of agreement, the franchisor sells a defined region where the franchisee agrees to open a pre-determined number of locations over a defined time period. It typically starts with one location, with additional units opening every twelve to eighteen months. Area Development requires a bit more experience and investment capital as you’re typically looking at opening a minimum of five plus locations. Area developers are the sole operators of their locations and are not responsible for selling franchises as is common and customary with the last two categories Regional and Master Development.

Regional Development and Master Development are generally offered by newer concepts looking to expand quickly. This agreement is essentially a joint venture between the franchisor and the developer; and is sometimes referred to as sub-franchising. With both of these structures, the developer is responsible to own one location, and sell other locations within their territory in exchange for a split of both the franchise fees and royalties. With both of these options, the owner will operate two distinct businesses, their franchise business and their franchise development operation. The developer is responsible to support and train prospective franchises in their territory and thus needs to build a management operation to do so. Both of these structures require a unique set of both business ownership and management experience. In most cases, the minimum initial investment is in excess of $250,000 and the franchisor requires a net worth in excess of $1,000,000. The distinction between Regional and Master Development is geographic location. If a franchise sub-franchises in the United States it’s called Regional Development. If they sub-franchise in a foreign country, it’s called Master Development.

There are a lot of different ownership options in franchising. The good news is there are options from various skill sets and investment ranges. It’s important to note, you can be successful with each option. Regardless of which one you chose, it’s important to do your research. Review the business model and make sure it’s viable. Speak with existing franchisees, as they can be the best source of information. There are a lot of resources available if you are serious about franchising. Be sure to get all the info available before making an investment.

Everyone should be aware of the fact that in order to run a franchise firstly you should have the idea that will work in favor of you to succeed . The fact that many people cannot make out in regards to running a franchise is that the plan should be your creativity instead of the franchise to create a real plan for you to meet . This is the major difference between A successful and a failed business enterprise , if You don’t be alert and sketch a plan of your own for the enterprise along with the idea which you fetch from the franchise then you could not even imagine where it would lead you into . The first thing you need to do prior to creating a plan is figure out where you want to be in 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months and then in 1 year . The reason why you need to figure this out is because all of this will be in your plan so that you can set goals and tasks in order to get to where you want to be.

Another thing you need to do in order to run a successful franchise is to chalk out the hindrance or hurdles which you have to face along with the solutions to face those which will lead to success. This is very vital because without the prior knowledge of those hurdles which you have to face while running the enterprise, you will have no idea where those will lead to. My suggestion is to not just figure out the various types of hindrances you will have to face along with the proper solutions of kill them whenever you encounter those, so that the business should not be hampered and you can keep on improve and make the franchise a successful for you.

Tips to successfully run a franchise

Don’t grow too quickly – Something that a lot of franchises do is they try to improve and expand too quick and they the problem they usually face at their budding stage of their business when they are still learning stuffs about the market and if you try to start a new business or grow to a point you are not accustomed then you may find your business in a lot of trouble as well as you being overwhelmed.

Get help – Whenever you get an opportunity to seek help from others, reluctantly you should accept their help, because if you keep on experimenting while waiting then it might be too late for you to realize that the time is gone . What you need to understand is that the sooner you can get help the sooner you can do other things in order to build your business.

The last thing you need to understand is that in the end it all starts with you and how passionate you are about running your franchise. What most people don’t realize is that not all franchises are the same and that is why you need to treat each one with a certain amount of respect..Lets say you wanted to run a Platos Closet Franchise, you need to treat I like it is a multimillion dollar business that just needs your help.

Franchising is a must abused word and means many different things to different people. In simple terms it is the granting or certain rights by one party (the franchisor) to another (the franchisee) in return for a sum of money. The franchisee then exercises those rights under the guidance of the franchisor. Such a wide definition encompasses many different forms of licensing arrangements and ranges from the right to manufacture denim jeans or soft drinks under a particular brand name to the right to run a local radio station under the auspices of the Independent Broadcasting Authority.

This book has a much narrower focus and is concerned only with business format franchising which can be defined as a contractual license granted by one person (the franchisor) to another (the franchisee) which:

1.       Permits or requires the franchisee to carry on a particular  business using the franchisor ‘s know-how under the franchisor’s brand  as an independent business;

2.       Allows the franchisor to exercise continuing control over  the manner in which the franchisee carries on the franchised business;

3. Obliges the franchisor to provide the franchisee with ongoing support in carrying on the franchised business.

As a commercial matter, the agreement inevitably requires the franchisee periodically during period of the franchise to pay to the franchisor sums of money in consideration for the franchise and/or services provided by the franchisor of the franchisee.

In many ways franchising can be as essentially a marketing exercise. The consumer’s perception should be that, save for any express statement to the contrary, there is no difference between one. The décor of the shop premises, the livery of vehicles, the selection of the goods or services and uniforms of the staff should be identical to the franchisor’s own outlets. The franchisor is renting the franchisee the right to use its business format; hence the name ‘business format franchising’. However that right to use the business format is for a limited period of time. The format or associated marks. The rights he enjoys are similar to those of a tenant has full enjoyment of the demise, but the day after expiry of the lease he has no rights over the property at all.

One of the types of franchise business that are really easy to establish and open is a pizza franchise. Aside from it is easy; it also serves as a great way to earn profit. If the business is handled properly, it can be an excellent source of income with a large chance of improvement and growth.

A franchise is a right that is sold to an individual or a group to use the name, trademark, products and services of the parent company or what is called as the franchisor. Aside from this, the franchisor is also entitled to get trainings and seminars to learn business strategies and techniques so that they can be guided accordingly to the pizza franchise business.

One of the most popular franchise businesses are those that are related to the food industry. These are done by letting the franchisee use the same ingredients, equipments and way of services. This can be beneficial to the franchisee since the product that they are selling are proven and tested. The franchisors or the parent company also benefits from this, since they are allowed to expand their company with minimal investments.

A pizza franchise is one of the best franchise systems since pizza is an all time favorite food. The prices of pizza are also low and it is very consistent. Because of these, there are a lot of pizza companies who are offering franchise opportunities, each of them are different in requirements, benefits and disadvantages.

The first step of establishing a pizza franchise is to choose a company where you want to open a franchise for. This can be as simple as choosing the pizza that you want personally. It can also be as complicated as assessing the details of the financial benefits and disadvantage of the pizza franchise. Be sure that the franchise that you are getting is something that is not yet in your neighborhood since franchisees do not allow multiple franchises in a certain area.

Choosing the pizza company that you want to have a franchise of is only one of the steps that you should take in establishing the franchise business. There are lot of things that you should do even after you have put up the business. Maintaining the business and ensuring that the business that you have established will be successful is the hardest part, it will require a lot of hard work and determination.

As the number of people having online jobs increases, the demand for ergonomic chair for computer desk also increases. Establishing not just a conducive working environment but also a properly set-up computer desk station is necessary especially for those who commit most of their time in front of the computer.

Just imagine sitting for at least eight hours a day! Such working habit can cause body and muscle pains especially at the back and neck areas. It could also affect the proper posture. Because of these concerns, the traditional office chairs are in threat to be replaced by ergonomic ones as these are specially designed to provide comfort and to promote proper posture.

People come in all shapes and sizes and these become the determining factors in creating the proper workstation setup. But the good news, ergonomic chairs could adapt to any sizes and body types. Some manufacturers accommodate personal customization upon request to fully suit the user’s needs. The chairs are also available in a wide range of seat kinds from marginally contoured to those that can change forward or back to suit the difference in leg lengths. If you are planning to buy one now, check the following first:

1. The height of the seat. If you belong to the class of above average height, an ergonomic chair with an office seat form having a shoulder high adaptable back rest and a stretch seat will perfectly suit you. Whereas for persons of smaller frame, the petite office seat type would of course be suited. However, such type is not readily available in the market but you can order this. It is important that the user will have his feet flat on the floor with his thighs on a horizontal position and his arms on an even height with the desk.

2. The width and depth of the seat. For comfortable use, the seat should be wide enough. The depth from front to back of the seat should allow the user user to sit with his back against the backrest of the ergonomic office chair. The frontward or backward slope of the seat should also be adjustable.

3. The lumbar support. The lower back support in every ergonomic chair for computer desk is a very important factor to consider. The contour of our lumbar spine has an inward curve. A continuous sitting for a very long period without proper support leads to slouching that eventually strains the lower spine structures. Therefore, ergonomic chairs should require lumbar modification to provide care for the inner curve of the lower back.

4. The backrest and armrest. If the backrest is separate from the seat, it should be adjustable in height and angle that could support the natural curve of the spine. On the other hand, if the ergonomic chair has the seat and backrest as one piece, it should be adjustable in forward and back angles. However, it should have a barring device in order to secure it from moving too far backward or forward once the appropriate angle has been determined.

5. The seat material and swivel. The material should have enough padding in the seat and back for comfortable use. While the swivel should easily rotate in different areas.

Now that you know these, you will perfectly buy the right kind of ergonomic chair for computer desk.

??There are a lot a franchise opportunities for sale today which is a good thing since the global economy is forcing so many people to explore entrepreneurship and business ownership. Bottom line is the national unemployment rate is high at 10%, and that doesn’t even include the people who have stopped looking for a job. People still have to pay their bills and put food on the table so the natural progression is to go into business for yourself.

There’s really only two choices available. You can open a traditional business or you can buy a franchise opportunity for sale. Both have good and bad points but in this article I’m going to give you five reasons why you should own a franchise today.

1. You get to be your own boss – Being a business owner means you are the person in charge of everything and the buck literally stops with you. I truly believe that for people to achieve their American dream they have to be their own boss. Buying a franchise opportunity for sale fulfill that requirement because you can work whenever you want, wherever you want and not one person can tell you what to do. You have the ability to fire yourself and hire yourself as many times you want.

2. You’re buying a proven system that works – I believe that this right here is the single most important reason that buying a franchise makes sense. If you don’t have the expertise to start a traditional business from scratch and grow it successfully so that it doesn’t become one of the 95% that fail within three years, buying a franchise is your best option. The proven system usually comes with the business plan, the marketing plan and the relationships with vendors and suppliers already in place. Having this from the start is huge.

3. A franchise has a higher rate of success – I already talked about traditional businesses having a 95% failure rate. What you must understand is that you can usually make a lot more money with one traditional business versus owning one franchise. However, 74% of franchise owners say they are profitable with a good percentage of them making over $150,000 a year. Depending on your needs and your goals, buying a franchise opportunity for sale will probably make the most sense especially in today’s economic times.

4. Take advantage of the branding – Franchise opportunities for sale usually come with an established brand already in place. Once again, if you do not have the experience to create a brand and grow it from scratch buying into a proven brand makes the most sense. I guarantee that if you opened up your franchise and I had the name McDonald’s on the front, I think you would be pretty happy and I think you would have a great chance of success.

5. You will have the economies of scale – This is something I believe most business owners don’t really think about. With today’s technology, industries and markets change at a rapid pace. When you buy a franchise opportunity for sale, you are buying into the power that the franchise Corporation has with resources and research and development. The franchise company usually has the size and scalability to keep up with industry trends and to make changes in a timely matter before it’s too late.

As a professional franchise advisor I am constantly amazed at the client’s perception (or lack thereof) of how they view the financial realities when looking at franchises to buy. To be fair, many are simply ignorant or lack good quality information of the requirements and are willing to be educated in the very early stages of considering becoming an entrepreneur. Others are terribly misguided and often unwilling to accept they are unlikely candidates given their limited resources and disconnected thought process to becoming a successful business owner. As a franchise consultant, I view my responsibly importantly to explain these requirements in the very earliest stages of engaging a franchise candidate so no expectations are intentionally mismanaged by being as forthright as possible. Yes, it is disappointing in some cases to deliver difficult news that dashes an entrepreneur’s spirit and sometimes their dreams, but in almost every situation is absolutely the right thing to do by being upfront with my clients.

So what are the most common mis-perceptions of many would-be entrepreneurs of the real costs to acquire a franchise?

Many candidates are only focused on the franchise fee required when looking at franchises to buy and wrongly assume this investment is the only cost that actually puts them in a business that will throw of unrealistic and quick profits. The ugly truth is the franchise fee in almost all cases is the least costly portion of the total investment and represents a very small fraction of the entire candidate’s capital needs. The franchise fee is merely your placeholder at the table allowing you access to the franchisor’s system and defined license requirements to operate your franchise under specific terms as spelled out in your agreement.

In actuality, beyond the franchise fee the client will need additional amounts of capital to fully fund the enterprise and cover such items as pre-paid expenses (if they apply) to include deposits for a lease and utilities, construction build-outs or leasehold improvements, fixtures, computer systems, signage, vehicle purchases or leases, grand opening events, advertising, marketing, etc. Much of this portion of the investment is financiable if the client is qualified but represents a much larger piece of the total investment. Underestimating these particular capital needs can spell disaster to the new entrepreneur and determine his fate before the business really has a chance to succeed. Careful consideration of these budget items needs to be planned in advance.

Less thought is given to what the business will require to sustain its survival and growth over and above the start-up investment. The business will always need additional operating capital to continuously fund ongoing things such as employee’s salaries, inventories, utilities, insurance, and all the other day-to-day expenses to keep the business open and operating. Failure to include, budget, and anticipate these expenses and how they’re funded is yet another major mistake many new entrepreneurs tend to make without proper counsel.

Once their expectations are in alignment with these realities they are faced with what many perceive as the most startling realization. That is how do they pay their personal living expenses while the business is in an incubation period and they are unable to take any money out of the business for some time? It just isn’t practical, let alone good business planning to think the business will be started on the first of the month and pay the mortgage on the 15th. They didn’t buy an ATM machine. They bought a business that needs time to become established financially and allows for some owner’s benefits to occur within a reasonable time but not immediately. Careful consideration of this need should be planned well in advance and with a conservative time frame for taking money out by the owner.
